[a]在化石层中，最普遍的是古似鸟龙。它是一种小型的食肉类恐龙，这个族群遗留下相当多的化石，有时候保存了极为精致的牙齿与肢骨。最初，曾经被描述监定成似鸟龙属下的一个新种。经过研究，现在已经认定为亚洲似鸟龙科中最原始古老的一个代表成员。
